Danny has driven professionally for seventeen years. He teaches the way he learned, starting with harness, building confidence, and getting you holding the reins sooner than you expect.

The lesson
From harnessing up to the open lane
Every lesson begins in the yard. We show you how the harness fits, how to check it and why it matters. Understanding the harness is understanding the horse.
First lessons are with our quiet, confidence-building grey horses. Our Hungarian Lippizaners are forgiving, well-mannered and ideal for novices. Once you have the feel, we move into the school and then out onto quiet lanes.
Students who progress can drive a pair of Gelderlanders. For those with experience, we can discuss working with teams of four. Lessons are individual. Danny adjusts entirely to where you are, not where a lesson plan says you should be.
We run lessons from Barlows Farm, Grantham, with routes through the surrounding Lincolnshire countryside and, by arrangement, through the Belvoir Castle estate in Leicestershire.
Lesson formats
Single lesson
£65 per session · one horse
The starting point for everyone. You will learn harness fitting, voice commands, rein contact and basic control. Most students are driving independently within the first hour. Initial assessment £90.
Pair driving
£85 per session · two horses
For students who have the basics of single driving. Pair work teaches coordination, balance of contact between two sets of reins, and the particular feel of a matched pair at work.
Introductory experience
£120 · gift vouchers available
A full taster session covering harness fitting, putting-to and taking the reins. Perfect as a gift. Vouchers available. Teams of four by arrangement.
